Russ Housley was Chair of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), since March 2013 until March 2015. He was the Chair of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) from March 2007 to March 2013. Apart from his IETF work, he is a security systems consultant, working under the company name Vigil Security LLC, which he founded in 2002. Before starting Vigil Security, Housley has worked at the Air Force Data Services Center, Xerox, SPYRUS, and RSA Laboratories. He has been active in the IETF and related groups since the mid-1980s, starting with the design of Privacy Enhanced Mail, the first attempts at standardizing a secure email function. He is listed as author of at least 43 RFCs.
